A little bit about me:
Hey, I’m Mallory! I am an early intervention speech-language pathologist in Washington, D.C, with an emphasis on feeding therapy. Currently, I am employed by Coastal Healthcare Services, a women-operated, private practice which works closely with DC Strong Start, the early intervention program within the district.
In this position, I utilize an evidence-based coaching model–coaching parents in a natural environment to support children 0-3 with speech, language, cognitive, and feeding challenges. It’s more than just playing with babies… It’s guiding parents to learn the skills and strategies to help their kiddos communicate, eat, and play as best as they can. I love it!
Prior to entering the early intervention world, I completed my clinical fellowship year (CFY) at Thinking Organized, a private practice in the DC metro area. As a CF for Thinking Organized, I provided evaluative and treatment services to children and adolescents with executive function challenges. I tapped into some really interesting areas of our scope: reading disorders, attention deficits, written expression, and social pragmatics.
My clinical interests include early intervention, pediatric feeding/swallowing disorders, autism spectrum disorders, language-based learning disabilities, and social pragmatics. I am an ASHA SIG 13 Affiliate, a volunteer member of the DC Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and a volunteer advocate for Feeding Matters.
I am an SLP, but I’m a lot of other things, too! In my free time, I enjoy backpacking, traveling, reading, writing, and creating artwork. All of the photos on this website were taken during my personal traveling, hiking, and growing experiences.
Through this blog, I hope to improve my writing skills, network, and be inspired by talented, successful individuals who have chosen a unique path!
